4H/FFA POULTRY SHOW RULES


POULTRY RULES

Rules:

  1. The rules listed in the General Rules section of the 2024 Boone County Fair Book, in addition to following rules, will apply to the Poultry Show.
  2. All poultry (other than meat pen stock) must be under the daily care and supervision of the project member from April 21, 2024 to show day. Meat pens of poultry must be 2nder the care and supervision of the project member between May 21 – June 4, 2024. Poultry meat pen birds should 6-8 weeks of age. Grand & Reserve Poultry MEAT PENS MUST sell at livestock auction. Remaining meat pens earning a BLUE RIBBON, have the option to sell, but only ONE per exhibitor
  3. Only class P10 sell in Livestock Auction.
  4. Animal used for SHOWMANSHIP is the exhibitor's choice.
  5. All exhibitors must be members in good standing of a 4-H/FFA Poultry project to be shown and entries must be turned in by Entry Deadline. No entries will be accepted after this date. Each exhibitor is allowed unlimited in breed be directly to the superintendent.
  6. All animals must be entered, exhibited, handled and shown by the project member unless specific arrangements have been made with the superintendent.
  7. Exhibitors must provide their own water and food dishes.
  8. Exhibitors must provide adequate wire cages on the day of the show. 10. All exhibited animals must be free of any visible signs of infection, contagious disease or parasites. Exhibitors may be asked to remove any project animal not in good health. Dismissal will be at the discretion of the superintendent or judge.
  9. All birds (other than meat pens) will have to pass the blood test prior to the show (completed at show)
  10. Exhibitors are limited to enter only TWO meat pens. The poultry must be a broiler type bird. There must be three birds in this pen. All three birds must be of the same breed and the birds should be 6-8 weeks old.
  11. Due to possible omissions or mistakes in printing of the rules, the Committee reserves the right to final interpretation of the rules and will make any final decision concerning the Poultry Show.
  12. Show results must be given to livestock committee treasurer by the end of show day. 1
